Moisture Absorption Performance
The moisture-adsorption capacity of a desiccant depends on relative humidity (RH), temperature, material formulation, and testing conditions. Therefore, absorption percentages should always be compared using the same test standard and environmental conditions.
As an indicative guide, bentonite clay and silica gel can both provide substantial moisture adsorption, with typical working capacities often falling in the 20–40% range by desiccant weight, depending on RH and test conditions.
For example:
10 g desiccant × 30% moisture adsorption = approximately 3 g of water absorbed.
Actual adsorption can be significantly different at higher or lower RH, so application-specific testing is recommended when precise moisture capacity is required.
Dri Clay® vs. Silica Gel vs. SuperDry
Different desiccants perform differently depending on the application. The most appropriate choice should be based on the required humidity level, package volume, shipping conditions, product sensitivity, and required environmental characteristics.
| Feature | Dri Clay® Kraft | Silica Gel | SuperDry* |

*“SuperDry” may refer to different desiccant products/formulations. Its exact adsorption capacity and composition should therefore be confirmed against the manufacturer's technical datasheet before making a direct performance claim.
Where Is Dri Clay® Used?
Textile & Garments
Helps control humidity inside polybags, cartons, and other enclosed packaging to reduce the risk of mold, mildew, odor, and moisture damage during storage and transportation.
Footwear & Leather
Provides moisture protection for shoes, bags, leather accessories, and other products that may be exposed to humidity during international transportation.
Furniture & Wood Products
Useful for furniture, wooden components, cabinets, flooring, and other wood-based products where excess humidity can contribute to mold growth and deterioration.
Electronics & Electrical Products
Helps reduce humidity inside sealed packaging to protect moisture-sensitive electronic and electrical components during storage and shipment.
Food & Nutraceuticals
Small-size Dri Clay® sachets can be used for appropriate food, supplement, and nutraceutical packaging applications where moisture control is required.
Medical Devices
Can provide humidity control for suitable medical-device packaging, subject to the requirements of the specific product and packaging system.
Metal Components
Helps protect metal parts, hardware, tools, and components from humidity-related rust and corrosion without the liquid-leakage concerns associated with some chloride-based moisture absorbers.
Export & Container Shipping
Dri Clay® can be incorporated into packaging systems for international transportation where products may experience significant humidity fluctuations during ocean freight, warehousing, and long-term storage.
Why Choose Dri Clay® Kraft?
Moisture can silently reduce product quality long before visible damage appears. In an enclosed package, humidity can contribute to mold, mildew, rust, corrosion, staining, odor, and deterioration.
Micro-Pak Dri Clay® Kraft provides a simple way to introduce moisture-control protection directly into the package while supporting sustainability goals.
Its combination of natural bentonite clay, plastic-free construction, biodegradable Kraft-paper packaging, non-corrosive performance, and multiple available sizes makes it a practical solution for modern moisture-sensitive packaging.
Available Sizes
-
1g – Food, supplements and small moisture-sensitive products
-
2g – Small consumer products and packaging
-
6g – Garments, footwear and medium-sized packages
